Check of the quality of rods with metric thread
An information leaflet about the issues described on this page in PDF HERE
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that in recent months we have increasingly encountered rods from certain sources on our market, which are of unsatisfactory quality, in certain cases their use can even be dangerous.
It is a linearly encoded 13-digit numerical code. You can see a preview of one such barcode label in the image to the right.
Unfortunately, we come across rods that, in order to reduce production costs, have a modified thread profile contrary to the standards it should meet. While the outside diameter of the thread is virtually the same as a properly made rod, a rod made this way contains less material due to the different shape of the thread - see image at right. The modified profile manifests itself, for example, in a large clearance between the rod and the nut, pointed ends of the thread and, under load, can cause the thread to tear or even break the rod itself.
Of course, we carefully check our products both in terms of the quality and chemical composition of the material, as well as in terms of the quality of the thread using appropriate gauges and other methods of measuring the middle and outer thread. We understand that such a check is often impossible for you, so we are happy to advise you on other, simpler methods. The fastest way to check the quality of the thread is to check the correct weight of the threaded rod in addition to the visual inspection. Therefore, here we present a table of correct values for meter rods for individual dimensions.
If you have any other questions about introducing our codes into your system or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to advise you.
